I often visit the Evolution News website because as a Christian the most obvious thing in the world to me is that the universe and everything in it had a Creator and cannot be a product of random chance. (The site is a great repository of information from the Intelligent Design movement.) In fact, whenever I wonder if this whole Christian thing I and my family have staked our lives on could actually be true, and that we will live forever in paradise with this Creator, I simply look outside, or at my hand, or our cats, and think, “There is absolutely no way this is all a product of random chance!” Because, my friend, if the materialists (the material is all that there is) have it right, that is exactly what it would have to be. I know that if Christianity isn’t true, then something else has to be, and in the 21st century secular West, the only alternative is materialist atheism (the only other alternative other than materialism is pantheism, and that is even less plausible than atheism if that were even possible).

We live in incredible times. Science is actually becoming the best friend of theism, contrary to every prediction of snotty materialists over the last couple hundred years. It’s thrilling to realize that God has been playing a kind of shell game with the materialists these past 250 years. All this time the materialists have been convinced that the more science advanced, and the more we discovered about the universe, the more irrelevant would God become. It so happens just the opposite is happening, and it’s so much fun!

The materialist bubble began to burst with Einstein and the Big Bang. All of a sudden the materialists had to deal with the uncomfortable fact that the universe, matter, space, and time, had a beginning . . . . just like the Bible, and Jews and Christians have been saying for millennia. Prior to this a universe that always existed in its present form was plausible, but no more. This new understanding led to the logical question that if the universe had a beginning, then how did life itself, us, come to exists. This is where the materialists get really uncomfortable, and illogical, and irrational because no merely material explanation can account for any of it. Only an Almighty Creator God can.

Which brings me to an article at Evolution News that has six videos (which I turned into MP3’s at https://ytmp3.cc/ so I can listen while I move!) from a Dallas conference on science and faith earlier this year. As I listened to them I realized that . . . atheism is literally impossible! Of course I know that, but the secular messaging machine we live in constantly bathes us in the assumption that atheism is not only possible, but likely. As astronomer Carl Sagan notoriously asserted in his 1980 TV program Cosmos, “The Cosmos is all that is or was or ever will be.” At best our secular contemporaries claim that even if there is a God, it’s purely a personal matter having nothing to do with the ultimate meaning of reality. I’m not sure how much more ultimate you get than God, but man is a stubborn and rebellious creature.

If you are Christian I would encourage you and your family to watch or listen to all six of these videos. If you are not I would challenge you to watch or listen. You don’t get this perspective from our media, entertainment, or educational establishments. You might even learn something they don’t want you to know! I’ll get you started with this talk by author Eric Metaxas who addressed exactly this point. If you can listen or watch these and conclude atheist materialism is the least bit plausible, then we live in different universes.
