In case you are not aware where “Eat the babies” came from, watch this priceless satire of the leftists’ absurd obsession with “climate change”:
The woman was a plant at an AOC townhall, and she appears distraught at the “three months” we have before “climate change” doomsday is upon us. Every time I think of the phrase, “We need to eat the babies,” I laugh, and hearing her voice saying it makes me laugh all the more. The point, so artfully made, and to the oblivious crowd gathered in that room, is that human beings are not the cause of our supposedly impending climate catastrophe. If the “climate change” alarmists are right, then we are, and why not “eat the babies.”
For almost 60 years the left (progressives, liberals, Marxists, communists, socialists, secularists, and sadly now most Democrats) has warned of environmental apocalypse. Regardless of the details of their constant Chicken Little harangues, the common theme is that human beings are a cancer on the ecological health of planet earth. That not one single prediction they’ve made has ever come true doesn’t deter them one bit. Disaster, human caused, is always just around the corner. And the secular media bullhorn ensures they will always get a serious hearing they don’t deserve.
As Christians we completely reject that God’s most glorious creation, us, is a blight on the planet. In fact, the truth is exactly the opposite. Human beings are earth’s ultimate resource! Many years ago I first read the great George Gilder’s Wealth and Poverty where he makes just this case, persuasively. I cannot make that case here, but as Christians it’s baked into the cake of our view of reality, a reality made by God himself for human flourishing.
Knowing this, as Christians we cannot but be distraught at the cheap disregard for human life in the tragedy of abortion. Since the Supreme Court made abortion a “constitutional right” in 1972, over 60 million(!) babies have been killed by this diabolical means. How pathetic that America’s secular elites think that women killing their offspring is a “right.” So to do our small part to oppose this demonic assault on “the babies,” (instead of eating them) my wife and I today for the first time participated in our local 40 Days for Life campaign in front of an abortion facility. As you can see, the building has a sign in front that says, in perfect 1984 fashion, “Women’s Health Center.” Death is health; health is death. George Orwell would be proud. It’s hard to see in the picture, but the tagline above says in dark euphemism, “When someone you love needs a choice.” It should say, “When you want to kill your baby, come on in!”
I just finished a book by the 40 Days for Life founder, Shawn Carney, The Beginning of the End of Abortion: 40 Inspiring Stories of God Changing Hearts and Saving Lives. This movement has done, and is doing, incredible work, worldwide, to stand for life, and save the babies. If you haven’t seen the movie Unplanned, that’s a great way to see the impact 40 Days is having. And it will tear your heart out. It’s the reason we knew we couldn’t stand on the sidelines any longer. I hope you won’t either.
